Deirdre McMurdy
Deirdre McMurdy is one of Canada’s leading business journalists in both print and television. Whether she’s talking about Canada’s competition in globalized markets or the direction of the international economy, she will inform and stimulate any audience. Fascinated with business trends and management issues, she readily admits to being a “capital markets fanatic.” She views the markets as “a microcosm of the human condition,” and offers astute observations about recent business affecting Canadians at home and abroad.
Ms. McMurdy is widely known for her work as a business columnist and business editor for Maclean’s magazine, and columnist for Canadian Business magazine. She was also the business editor on CTV’s morning program, Canada AM for five years before co-hosting Global Television Network MoneyWise with Peter Kent. Presently, she is the Ottawa Correspondent for CTV’s Business News Network (BNN) and she writes two columns for the Ottawa Citizen and CanWest, and is a columnist for The National Post.
In December 2008, Roger Martin, Dean of Rotman Business School, named Ms. McMurdy as the new adjudicator for the National Business Book Award.
