Peter Mansbridge

Peter Mansbridge is the Chief Correspondent of CBC Television News. He anchors several programs including CBC's flagship nightly news program. Now in his fourth decade with CBC News, Mr. Mansbridge has provided coverage for some of Canada’s most compelling stories, including nine federal elections, two national referendums and the death and state funeral of Pierre Elliot Trudeau. He has also covered international stories of great significance, like the wars in Kosovo and Iraq, and the events surrounding September 11, 2001.

Mr. Mansbridge has won many awards of merit during his distinguished career, including nine Gemini Awards for excellence in broadcast journalism. He was also awarded the gold medal for Best News Anchor at the 2000 New York Festival in a competition of television networks from around the world.

Mr. Mansbridge has been honoured by several institutes of higher learning. He has received honorary degrees from Mount Royal College, the University of Manitoba, Lakehead University and Mount Allison University. He was also named the 1998 Wolfers’ Fellow at Yale University. In 2001, he was invited to lecture at Oxford University in England as part of its distinguished speakers series.
