William Dimma has served on 90 boards of directors in a long and distinguished career. He was Chairman for Canadian Business Media, Interlink Freight Systems, Monsanto Canada, and others. His directorships included Royal LePage, Delta Hotels, Enbridge, London Insurance, Sears Canada, Trilon Financial, Trizec and Torstar. He is currently Chairman of Home Capital, Malibu Engineering and Software and the Royal LePage Commercial Advisory Board.
In the not-for-profit sector, Mr. Dimma served on the board or as Chairman of the Canadian Opera, Hospital for Sick Children, Niagara Institute, Trillium Foundation, and York University to name some. He is currently a member of the board of the Canadian Journalism Foundation and the Institute of Corporate Directors.
As a business leader, Mr. Dimma was Executive Vice-President of Union Carbide, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Studies at York University, President of Torstar and Toronto Star Newspapers, President of A. E. LePage, and President, CEO and then Deputy Chairman of Royal LePage.
Mr. Dimma is the author of Excellence in the Boardroom: Best Practices in Corporate Directorship and Tougher Boards for Tougher Times.
Mr. Dimma received an Engineering degree (B.A. Sc.) from the University of Toronto, an M.B.A. from York University, and a D.B.A. from Harvard University. He received honorary degrees from Saint Mary’s University and York University. He was invested in the Order of Canada in 1996 and the Order of Ontario in 2000.
